National Technical Honor Society honors the achievements of top Career & Technical Education (CTE) students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce. For over 30 years, NTHS has been the acknowledged leader in the recognition of outstanding student achievement in career and technical education.

West Potomac Academy’s chapter of NTHS is a student organization that recognizes higher scholastic achievement, cultivates a desire for personal excellence, and helps students finds success in today’s highly competitive workforce. In alignment with the vision, mission and goals of NTHS, the requirements to become a member of West Potomac Academy’s NTHS chapter are the following:

• Students must maintain a 3.0 or higher overall GPA with a 3.5 in their Academy course.
• Students must have commendable character.
• Students must maintain good attendance.
• Students must have a teacher recommendation.
• Students must partake in active membership in a CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization)
• Student must have a career experience plan committing to 5 hours or more hours with an internship, job shadow, clinical observation, or volunteer hours. 

 

2021 Jon H. Poteat Scholarship

The Jon H. Poteat Scholarship is named in honor and memory of the NTHS Co-Founder. It is

awarded annually to NTHS members who consistently exemplify the seven attributes of the National

Technical Honor Society – Skill, Honesty, Service, Responsibility, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Leadership.
