Daniel Ewell

Criminal Justice Teacher, HS

Daniel Lee Ewell, Jr. is a retired lieutenant of the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). During his tenure with MPD, he worked various assignments and special projects/details such as academy instructor, patrol officer, sergeant and lieutenant, School Resource Officer Area Coordinator, Boys & Girls Club Liaison and Lieutenant with the Office of Youth Violence and Outreach. He was awarded the Mayor’s Award for Excellence in Customer Service for his commendable use of crime and disorder problem solving strategies throughout the District. Mr. Ewell is a native Washingtonian who graduated from Frank W. Ballou High School. Upon graduating, he served seven years in the United States Army where he was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. Mr. Ewell completed the Police Executive Leadership Program at Johns Hopkins University. He also received his Bachelor's and Master's of Science Degree in Management from Johns Hopkins University. Currently, he is an associate professor with Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA).

Mr. Ewell joined the West Potomac Academy team in 2016.
