Brian Colligan

Criminal Justice Teacher, HS

Mr. Colligan began his career as a Criminal Justice Specialist with the Union County Prosecutor’s Office in Union, New Jersey. He relocated to northern Virginia to pursue a career in law enforcement.  He recently retired from the Fairfax County Police Department with over twenty-five years of service. During his career he worked in various capacities before being selected to the Criminal Investigations Bureau. As a Detective he investigated violent crimes against adults and children for over eighteen years. In 1997 he was assigned to the Child Abuse section where he investigated allegations of physical and sexual abuse of children. During this time he served as an instructor for the Virginia Institute for Developmental Disabilities through Virginia Commonwealth University. Mr. Colligan has spent the last ten years in the Homicide section investigating a variety of death cases, including capital murder. Throughout his career, he has been selected to present at local, state and national conferences on violent crime.

Mr. Colligan joined the West Potomac Academy team in 2015.
