Code Simulation
Code Simulation
Health and Medical Sciences (HMS) and TV/Media Production collaborate in a “Code Simulation” to teach students about interdisciplinary patient care in a medical code situation.
Select HMS students and their teachers wrote a script, coordinated with TV/Media students to film the HMS students acting in the simulation and edited the video with voiceover to use the Code Simulation Video for instructional purposes in Code medical situations. Key concepts were emphasized about the importance of communication, teamwork, and best practices for patient care.
The patient code occurred in dental office, 911 dispatch was called. EMT’s arrived on the scene to stabilize the patient and transport to the hospital. Nurses and Physicians provided medical attention to the patient while at the hospital, which led to the patient being discharged and a pharmacist provided patient education for medication.
