Educate Fairfax Grant Provides Funding for Students Career Exploration

West Potomac Academy was awarded with Grant Funding from Educate Fairfax for Career Exploration. 

30 Health and Medical Science students signed up by choice to attend the NVCC Medical Campus in Springfield, VA.  Students toured the campus and visited the HMS departments, learned the benefits of attending NVCC, career pathways, certifications, financial aid/tuition, application process, pre-requisites, and programs of study. 

The visit to NVCC Medical Campus was great for students from our HMS courses; PT/OT, Bio Tech, Medical Assistant, Dental, EMT, Nursing, and Pharmacy Tech.  A highlight for students was the career pathways offered beyond WPA including Dental Hygiene, PT, Radiology, Sonography, etc.  Students were interested in as continuing education such as our dental students who want to explore dental hygiene, while others are wanting to explore radiology and sonography and gaining more certifications.
