Health & Medical Students Obtain Professional Certification Licensure

 

Pharmacy Technician – 100% - Certification- Pharmacy EXCPT- 14 /14 students- 100% pass rate

Medical Assistant – Students took the CCMA Certification Exam. 

911 Dispatch: 20 students passed the IAED ETC Course Examination (International Academies of Emergency Dispatch/Emergency Telecommunicator) Each student had to receive a minimum passing score of 80% on a 50-question exam covering every topic in the course from radio frequencies to legal issues and types of emergency dispatch.

EMT: 28 students passed the final course exam and of those, 22 are eligible and registered to sit for their National Registry Test to certify as an EMT.  The test covers the major areas of EMT including Operations, Medical, Trauma, Cardiac, and Airway.  They will begin taking the test next week.

Intro to Nursing Students Prepare for Certified Nursing Assistant Exam

West Potomac Academy's Intro to Nursing students finished up their 40-hour clinical experience at Goodwin House this Spring.  Students worked directly with residents by checking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and providing bedside care.  This year 40 students participated in clinicals and are preparing to sit for their boards to become Certified Nurse Aides. As of June 13, 26 students have passed the CNA Certification and are Certified Nursing Assistants.  Students will continue to test this summer. 

Stop the Bleed Certification

Health and Medical Science students took part in the Stop the Bleed Course.  Students learned emergency techniques to help save lives of those that are in danger of bleeding out.  Inova sponsored and instructed the Intro to Nursing students and several Dental and Medical Assistant students who were interested to become certified.
